Zaporozhstal Reduced Rolled Steel Output by 9.3%

Production of other major products at the works in January-February dropped as well: pig iron - by 8.6% to 423 thousand tons (February – 202 thousand tons), crude steel – by 11.7% to 492 thousand tons (February - 236 thousand tons), sinter – by 11.5% to 737 thousand tons (February – 360 thousand tons).

We’d like to remind that in 2009 in comparison with 2008 the reduction of production at Zaporozhstal was as follows: sinter – by 12.2% to 4.759 M tons, pig iron – by 16.8% to 2.732 M tons, crude steel – by 16.9% to 3.278 M tons, rolled steel – by 15.5% to 2.748 M tons.

In 2009 the works has got loss of 290.52 M hrivnas (approx. $ 41 M).

Zaporozhstal is the third largest steel producer in Ukraine. It produces flat steel of thickness 0.5-8.0 mm for tubes and pipes manufacturing, construction and automotive applications.
