According to the data provided by the Eurasian Economic Union in the first six months of this year Russian pig iron export decreased by 20 percent to 2.37 million metric tons.
In the first half of current year US ranked first among Russian merchant pig iron export destinations, with its import from Russia 1.11 million metric tons, down 28.8 percent on year. The US accounted for nearly 46 percent of Russian pig iron exports. Italy was the second-largest market with 399,394 metric tons, up 31.2 percent on the year. Italy accounted for nearly 16.8 percent of Russian pig iron exports. Turkey was the third-largest buyer from Russia at 357,860 metric tons up 61% year on year, whit 15.1 percent of the Russian pig iron exports. China imported over 82,500 metric tons from Russia. South Korea imported 76,323 metric tons (increase of 57.6 percent). Spanish imported o 74,500 metric tons. Other countries with purchases of Russian pig iron over 20,000 metric tons in the first half of current year were Poland (57,120 metric tons, down 9 percent on year), Germany (49,236 metric tons, down 54 percent on year), Taiwan (40,392 metric tons, up 91 percent on year), Belgium (28,811 metric tons) and the Netherlands (21,830 metric tons, down 24 percent on year).
